There are plenty of ways to celebrate October — or, as we like to call it, spooky season — but one of our favorites is tuning in to Freeform’s annual 31 Nights of Halloween movie marathon.
The beloved tradition has been around since 2018 (though its roots go back even further to the Nineties, when the network’s lineup was known as 13 Nights of Halloween), bringing a month’s worth of popular films to the screen. Expect scary flicks like Hocus Pocus, Ghostbusters, Haunted Mansion, and more. And don’t worry: When we say “scary,” we mostly mean family-friendly classics.
The best part? You don’t need a traditional cable subscription to join in. You can stream Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween with a free trial to services like DirecTV or Fubo, while paid options including Sling and Hulu + Live TV let you watch throughout the month without having to worry about your trial expiring.

Editor’s pick
DirecTV
Freeform is included in DirecTV’s Entertainment, Choice, and Premier packages. The service currently offers a five-day free trial, so while you won’t be able to watch the entire 31 Nights of Halloween marathon without paying, it’s a good way to test out the streamer and see if it’s worth adding to your lineup. After the trial, plans start at $59.99 per month.
Easy to cancel
Fubo
Like DirecTV, Fubo currently offers a five-day free trial, after which memberships start at $88.99 per month. Freeform is available through its Pro, Elite, and Premier tiers. You can also save with a discounted rate when you sign up for a longer-term plan.
day passes available
Sling
Sling doesn’t offer an unpaid trial, but in our opinion, it’s one of the most cost-effective ways to access Freeform’s 31 Nights of Halloween marathon. Freeform is included with Sling Orange and the Orange + Blue package, which starts at $45.99 per month.
That means you can watch throughout the month without worrying about a trial expiring midway through the marathon. Sling also offers day passes, so if you’re only interested in catching a few nights of the lineup, you can pay as little as $4.99 for full-day access.
