Carrot Top Cancels Las Vegas Shows Amid Hospitalization

Carrot Top was forced to cancel his Las Vegas shows this weekend after the prop comic was hospitalized on Friday night.

A rep for the red-haired comedian born Scott Thompson confirmed in a statement, “Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.”

TMZ reported Friday that Thompson was rushed to the hospital following a suicide attempt; the comedian’s rep did not elaborate on the cause of the hospitalization or Thompson’s condition.

Due to the situation, Thompson canceled both his Friday and Saturday shows at Las Vegas’ Luxor, where Carrot Top has held a residency for 21 years. As of press time, the comic is scheduled to perform Monday night at that venue.

Best known for his wild hair and zany onstage antics — which include diving into a bottomless chest of humorous props — Carrot Top has starred in films like his own Chairman of the Board and Pauly Shore Is Dead, and has appeared as himself on TV shows like the Vegas-set CSI, Reno 911!, and most recently Hacks.
