Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) creates Sawit EcoTherm, a palm oil-based immersion cooling fluid for AI data centers

A report from Bernama recently highlighted that the Malaysian Palm Oil Board has developed Sawit EcoTherm which is a palm-oil based immersion cooling fluid for data centers and AI data centers. This is not only sustainable but would help reduce the use of water in data center cooling. The non-conductive dielectric fluid would continuously remove heat in a closed-loop system, and would be able to handle higher heat than normal water cooling while reducing energy consumption by 30-50%.

The Sawit EcoTherm fluid is apparently sourced from Malaysian palm oil but is not yet available commercially. While it has been developed, there’s still no details on how much it would cost exactly. Current closed-loop systems do indeed use similar oils and fluids though, so there is a market for Sawit EcoTherm.
