Equinix will build a ~RM747 million data centre in Cyberjaya
Recently, Digital infrastructure company Equinix announced plans to expand its business operations in Malaysia with the development of a new data centre, KL2, in Kuala Lumpur. That said, what should you know about it?
This will be the fourth data centre in Malaysia
For your information, the development of the data centre will help address several aspects of the national digitalisation, including cloud services, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation of business operational efficiency.
Additionally, this new facility (KL2) will be built adjacent to Equinix's existing data centre in the metropolitan area (KL1) in Cyberjaya, aiming to further strengthen the company's ecosystem covering network providers, cloud platforms and enterprises in Malaysia. The KL2 data centre is the second data centre in Kuala Lumpur, and the fourth in the country.
Moreover, Equinix currently operates in Kuala Lumpur and Johor, and the development of the KL2 data centre is a continuation of the development of the JH1 and JH2 data centres that are also under construction. With a total investment of over USD190 million (~RM747 million), the KL2 data centre will accommodate more than 2200 cabinets when fully developed.
