AI-Generated actors and scripts are not eligible for awards - Oscars
Recently, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced new Oscar rules regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI), which state that only real human performances with official credits and fully written scripts are eligible for awards. That said, what should you know about it?|
There must be proof that the work was made or written by a human
For your information, under the new guidelines, the Academy can request proof of human involvement for each work it wants to compete in. Among the information requested is the extent to which AI was used in the production and proof that the work was written by a human.
The new requirements come as the use of AI in the industry is on the rise, with resistance from human artists who do not want their jobs to be replaced. AI has already been used in the production of full-length films in Malaysia and in special effects in several TV series. The late Val Kilmer will also be “returning to acting” in a film where he will be brought back to life using AI.
