Xiaomi 17 Max China release - 8,000mAh battery and up to 16GB + 512GB, starting price at ~RM2.8K

At long last, Xiaomi has officially introduced the new Xiaomi 17 Max, positioning it as one of the brand’s most ambitious flagship smartphones yet. The device arrives with a huge 8000mAh battery, a massive 6.9-inch LTPO display, flagship Snapdragon performance, and a Leica-powered 200MP camera system.

The Xiaomi 17 Max Tech Specs

As highlighted before the launch, the Xiaomi 17 Max has an 8,000mAh battery, which Xiaomi says uses its new Jinshajiang silicon-carbon battery technology with up to 16% silicon content for improved energy density. Despite the huge battery capacity, Xiaomi still includes 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless charging support alongside its Surge P3 charging chip and Surge G2 battery management system.

Another confirmed spec is the 6.9-inch 2K LTPO OLED display with adaptive refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. Xiaomi says the display uses its SuperPixel technology to maintain a higher resolution while reducing power consumption. The screen also reaches peak brightness levels of up to 3500 nits while using ultra-thin 1.28mm bezels for a more immersive viewing experience. Protection comes from Xiaomi’s third-generation Dragon Crystal Glass, which the company claims improves drop resistance significantly.

Next, the flagship features a Leica-branded triple camera setup led by a 200MP Samsung HP9 main sensor paired with a 50MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens supporting 3x optical zoom and macro photography. The device supports up to 8K video recording and Dolby Vision video capture while also including Xiaomi’s AI photography features and motion tracking enhancements.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17 Max runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. To handle sustained gaming and performance workloads, Xiaomi includes a large 5500mm² vapour chamber cooling system designed to maintain stable temperatures during heavy usage sessions. The phone also ships with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 alongside AI-focused features, such as Google Gemini integration, AI Writing, Circle to Search, AI Speech Recognition, and Xiaomi HyperAI tools.

Premium Flagship Features Continue Across the Board

The Xiaomi 17 Max also packs several premium flagship features, including IP68 or IP69 level water resistance depending on regional variants, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanning, Wi-Fi 7 support, and Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity.  The device is expected to come in multiple colour variants: black, blue, and white options.

Price and Availability

There are four different memory variants for the Xiaomi 17 Max, ranging from 12GB + 512GB to 16GB + 512GB. The starting price is 4,799 Yuan (~RM2.8K), going up to 5,799 Yuan (~RM3.3K). For now, this Max model is only available in China. But we sure hope to see it in Malaysia one day, God willing.
