Huawei nova 15 Series China release - Kirin chipsets and up to 6500mAh battery, starting price at ~RM1.5K
Huawei has officially revealed its stylish mid-premium lineup with the launch of the nova 15 series, introducing three models: nova 15, nova 15 Pro, and nova 15 Ultra. The new range brings major upgrades across display technology, camera systems, charging speeds, and durability, while also debuting HarmonyOS 6.0 and Huawei’s latest Kirin processors.
OLED Displays With High Refresh Rates
All three nova 15 models feature OLED displays with 10.7 billion colours and support for high refresh rates. But for the base model, the nova 15 comes with a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED panel offering a 120Hz refresh rate, whereas both the nova 15 Pro and nova 15 Ultra step up to larger 6.84-inch LTPO OLED displays, enabling adaptive refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz for better power efficiency.
These models also feature higher FHD+ resolutions and stronger glass protection, with Kunlun Glass used across most variants and an even tougher reinforced Kunlun glass reserved for the Ultra’s 1TB version.
Kirin Processors and HarmonyOS 6.0
Under the hood, the nova 15 is powered by the Kirin 8020, while both the nova 15 Pro and Ultra upgrade to the more powerful Kirin 9010S, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB, depending on the model. The nova 15 series runs HarmonyOS 6.0, further strengthening Huawei’s independent ecosystem.
Camera System
Cameras remain the biggest highlight of the nova lineup, with Huawei continuing to lean heavily into RYYB sensors, multispectral colour systems, and AI photography tools. The nova 15 features a 50MP main camera paired with a 12MP RYYB telephoto portrait lens with OIS, supported by a multispectral colour sensor. It supports 3× optical zoom and up to 30× digital zoom, with advanced AI shooting modes designed for portraits, night scenes, and dynamic motion.
The nova 15 Pro expands the camera array, adding a 13MP RYYB ultra-wide macro camera alongside its 50MP OIS main sensor and 12MP RYYB telephoto lens, while retaining up to 30× digital zoom. Lastly, the nova 15 Ultra has a 50MP variable-aperture main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultra-wide macro camera, all using RYYB sensors. Optical zoom increases to 3.7×, while digital zoom stretches to an impressive 100×.
Meanwhile, all three models are equipped with 50MP front cameras, capable of shooting ultra-high-resolution photos and 4K video with stabilisation. The Pro and Ultra models add an additional multispectral front sensor, enhancing skin tones and colour accuracy for selfies and video calls, while offering advanced portrait and beauty modes.
Big Batteries and Fast Charging
Battery life sees a notable jump across the nova 15 series. The nova 15 packs a 6000mAh battery, while both the nova 15 Pro and Ultra increase capacity to 6500mAh. All models support 100W wired Huawei SuperCharge, but the nova 15 Ultra goes further with 50W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
Water Resistant Rated
Huawei has also improved durability across the lineup. The nova 15 and nova 15 Pro carry IP65 dust and water resistance, offering protection against splashes and daily exposure. The nova 15 Ultra stands out with IP68 and IP69 ratings, making it resistant to submersion and high-pressure water.
Prices and Availability
In terms of pricing, the starting base model (nova 15 256GB) is 2699 Yuan (~RM1.5K), and only the Ultra model gets a 1TB model. The nova 15 Ultra 1TB is 4499 Yuan (~RM2.8K), and while all the models have the same colour options, only the Ultra has a brighter and vibrant green as compared to the nova 15 and nova 15 Pro.
The Huawei nova series is quite popular in Malaysia, so we expect to see the new lineup coming here sometime in 2026. Until then, stay tuned for the official news announcement only at TechNave.com.
