Google might have limited Meta’s access to its Gemini model

Google has reportedly restricted Meta’s access to its Gemini model due to severe computing capacity limitations. Informed of the constraints around March 2026, Meta is now unable to purchase or access the full capacity it requires, indirectly bottlenecking its internal development. The shortage has forced Meta to instruct employees to conserve and use AI tokens more efficiently. Furthermore, this capacity crunch isn't isolated to Meta; several other major Google customers are reportedly facing similar AI resource limitations.

A big challenge for Google to overcome

For your information, one of the challenges currently faced by various companies is the need for processing power to support various uses of artificial intelligence. Several companies are ready to invest in data centres, as well as the development of their own processing chips to control and enable them to offer better computing power to customers.

Additionally, for Google they are also focusing on offering Gemini services to public users, which have now exceeded 900 million active users. Personally, we feel a lot of Meta users in Malaysia will be upset with this news. After all, AI has become a necessity in day-to-day business and work-related matters.
