The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is set to launch on Christmas Day 2025
While we are still waiting for the Xiaomi 17 series global launch, the company has confirmed that the highly anticipated Xiaomi 17 Ultra will make its debut on 25 December in China. Early promotional material shared by Xiaomi teases a refined design and bold advances in imaging technology, and here's everything else you need to know.
A Clean New Design
From the initial design reveals, Xiaomi has given the 17 Ultra a fresh aesthetic while streamlining its physical features. The rear panel sports a striking central circular camera island branded with Leica’s logo, surrounded by a minimalist finish available in classic black and white.
The phone’s flat display with rounded corners delivers a cleaner, more modern look, and the camera bump appears noticeably smaller than its predecessors. Notably, Xiaomi has also abandoned the secondary rear display seen on some earlier models, opting instead for a sleeker overall silhouette. Physical controls have been updated too, with circular volume keys replacing the traditional rocker for a more tactile feel.
Other Features
Next, Xiaomi is equipping the 17 Ultra as a “next-generation night photography champion,” thanks to substantial improvements in low-light imaging and telephoto performance. The rear camera array combines a 1-inch primary sensor from OmniVision (OV50X) with advanced LOFIC technology to enhance dynamic range in challenging lighting and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens developed with Leica APO optics for continuous optical zoom across a wide range and crisp detail.
Under the hood, the 17 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with a high-efficiency flat display. Rumours indicate a hefty 6800 mAh battery supporting 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, along with dust and water resistance, ultra-wideband (UWB) support, and even satellite connectivity on higher-end variants.
Preparing for the Holiday Season
While Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed pricing yet, early estimates suggest the new Ultra model could arrive with a higher starting tag compared with its predecessor, reflecting the elevated hardware and Leica collaboration. The launch is just around the corner, so until then, do stay tuned for the official news announcement at TechNave.com.
