Grab introduces Women-Only Rides in Klang Valley, currently in Beta now

While not an official announcement, Grab has rolled out a new Women-Only Rides feature in beta, aimed at providing added safety and peace of mind for female passengers in Klang Valley. The feature is currently limited to the region as part of an early testing phase before a potential wider rollout.

Designed With Safety and Comfort in Mind

Based on the email that we received, the Women-Only Rides option is tailored specifically for female users, ensuring that both passengers and drivers are women. This creates a more secure and comfortable environment, especially for those travelling alone or during late hours. The feature also supports group bookings, allowing multiple female passengers to share a ride under the same settings.

To enable the feature, users must first complete two requirements within the Grab app. This includes declaring their gender in their profile and completing identity verification. Verification may take up to three working days, after which the Women-Only Rides option will become available in the app. This step is designed to ensure that only eligible users can access the feature.

Unlike standard bookings, Women-Only Rides are scheduled in advance. This allows the platform to better match passengers with available female drivers, improving reliability and reducing wait times. Once enabled, users can select the option under the standard ride category, choose their preferred date and time, and confirm the booking through the scheduling feature.

Limited Beta Rollout for Now

At launch, the feature is only available in Klang Valley, indicating that Grab is likely testing demand and operational feasibility before expanding to other regions in Malaysia. While still in beta, the feature signals Grab’s continued focus on enhancing user trust and providing safer commuting alternatives for its users.
