Bulgaria Awaits Warm and Mostly Sunny Weekend with Afternoon Storms in Some Areas

Clear and calm weather is expected across most of Bulgaria overnight into Saturday, with only a light westerly breeze in some areas. The weekend will begin with plenty of sunshine, although conditions are expected to become more unstable later in the day.

On May 30, sunny skies will dominate during the morning hours, but cloud development is forecast for the afternoon. Meteorologists expect cumulus and rain clouds to form mainly over the Rila-Rhodope region and parts of Eastern Bulgaria. Brief showers are possible, while northeastern areas may also see thunderstorms.

Temperatures will continue to rise, with daytime highs expected between 24 and 29 degrees Celsius. In Sofia, temperatures will hover around 24 degrees. Along the Black Sea coast, conditions will remain slightly cooler, with highs between 23 and 25 degrees. Northern coastal areas may experience temporary cloud cover and isolated rainfall.

Sea conditions are expected to stay relatively calm, with waves around 2 on the Beaufort scale and water temperatures ranging from 16 to 19 degrees.

Mountain areas will also enjoy mostly sunny weather before noon. During the afternoon, however, cloud buildup over Rila and the Rhodope Mountains could bring short-lived rain showers. Temperatures are forecast to reach around 16 degrees at 1,200 meters altitude and about 8 degrees at 2,000 meters.
