by Saumya Shubham Jha · India TodayHyundai Motor India Limited has launched the updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 in India, introducing a series of upgrades focused on range, technology, design and safety. Priced at Rs 55.70 lakh (ex-showroom), the refreshed electric SUV builds on its earlier success with meaningful enhancements aimed at improving everyday usability and long-distance practicality.
At the heart of the update is a larger 84.0 kWh battery pack, which now delivers an ARAI-certified range of up to 690km. This marks a significant improvement over the outgoing model and addresses one of the key concerns around EV adoption, range anxiety, making the IONIQ 5 better suited for extended intercity travel.
The exterior design sees subtle but noticeable revisions while retaining its distinctive Parametric Pixel identity. Updates include redesigned front and rear bumpers, more prominent skid plates, a revised rear spoiler, new alloy wheel designs and updated V-shaped lighting elements, all of which enhance its futuristic stance without altering its core silhouette.
Inside, the cabin continues to focus on space and minimalism, now complemented by improved ergonomics and added features. A new three-spoke leather steering wheel with Hyundai’s signature four-dot illuminated design takes centre stage, while the centre fascia has been reworked for better accessibility. The SUV also features dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrumentation, along with a redesigned wireless charging pad that integrates physical controls for seat ventilation and heating.
Technology sees a major step forward with the introduction of Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), along with controller over-the-air (C-OTA) updates. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are now offered, alongside new features such as Active Sound Design and in-car payment integration for EV charging. A notable addition is the remote immobilisation function via Hyundai Bluelink, enhancing vehicle security.
On the safety front, the updated model adds Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (Rear) and Side Parking Distance Warning, further strengthening its driver assistance suite.
The Ioniq 5 continues to be underpinned by Hyundai’s dedicated E-GMP platform, which supports fast charging and optimised packaging for EVs. It is available in four exterior colours, Gravity Gold Matte, Midnight Black Pearl, Titan Grey and Optic White, paired with an Obsidian Black interior theme.
