A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three minor boys living as tenants in her house in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, police said on Saturday. The family of the girl has alleged that the three accused -- aged six, 13 and 16, -- raped the child while they were playing on the terrace of their house.

The incident took place on Wednesday (October 16) evening in the Kotwali police station area. All three boys have been detained.

Police registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act based on a complaint lodged by the girl's mother.

After receiving information about the incident, SP Vir visited the crime scene and inspected it along with a forensics team, Station House Officer (SHO) Yogendra Bahadur Singh told news agency PTI.

"The three accused have been detained and are being questioned," Singh said.

In a similar incident last month, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two minor boys, one 8-year-old and one 7-year-old, at a deserted location in the Sadar Kotwali police station area of the city.
