Composer Devi Sri Prasad waged a war of words against the producers of Pushpa 2 - Naveen Yerneni, Mohan Cherukuri and Ravi Shankar - at the pre-release event, held in Chennai on December 24. He openly addressed the controversy surrounding him allegedly failing to deliver the film's background score, which pushed the makers to go for other music directors. Popularly known as DSP, the composer said that the producers have more complaints on him than love for him.
At the event, Devi Sri Prasad was addressing the crowd in Tamil. A group of fans asked him to speak in Telugu. He said, "My dear brothers, whatever you're doing is right. If we want anything, we need to ask and get it. If you don't ask, they won't give - whether it's the payment from producers or the credit on screen."
He then blamed producer Ravi Shankar and said, "Ravi sir, you've been blaming me saying that I didn't deliver the song or the background score on time. I know you love me. Where there is love, there are complaints as well. But, I think you have more complaints about me than love. Even now, I came to the venue 20-25 minutes ago. They asked me to wait to make an entry for the camera. I am shy. I am shameless only when I'm on stage. Off-stage, I'm the shyest person you can meet. I could hear the song Kissik being played, so I came running. As soon as I arrived, you said, 'Wrong timing, sir. You're late'. What can I do? If I had to address these separately, there's no kick. I am always open."

Devi Sri Prasad's fiery outburst at a public event raised eyebrows, indicating that all is not well between them. It was recently reported that DSP will compose the songs for Pushpa 2, while SS Thaman, Sam CS and Ajaneesh Loknath will score the background music.
Pushpa 2: The Rule is written and directed by Sukumar. The film is gearing up for a grand release in theatres on December 5 in multiple languages. The film features Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles. The much-awaited sequel has been in the making for nearly three years now.
