The CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), in its statement, called reports suggesting actor Vijay's Jana Nayagan leak as "baseless." The CBFC has issued a clarification to address these claims.

The CBFC has said that it employs a secure Key Delivery Message (KDM) system for all theatrical films submitted for certification, as reported by Press Information Bureau. This system ensures that access to film content is password-protected, with the KDM remaining exclusively with the producer or filmmaker, the report mentioned.

Without a valid KDM, it is not possible to access or view the film. This measure is in place to maintain the security and confidentiality of submitted content.

Regarding Jana Nayagan, the Digital Cinema Package (DCP) was officially handed over to the applicant in Mumbai on 17 March, with due acknowledgement, CBFC clarified in the statement. Since then, the DCP has remained in the possession of the applicant.

The production company, KVN Productions, in its statement, emphasised that downloading, viewing, storing, forwarding, sharing, uploading, or circulating the leaked content through platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, websites, torrents, or any other medium is a criminal offence and violates copyright laws.

The leak comes amid ongoing delays for the film, which has faced certification issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Originally scheduled for a theatrical release on January 9, the film's release was postponed.

Although the makers agreed to approach the revising committee, the film has yet to receive certification. Industry sources have also linked the delay to Vijay's participation in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections as the chief of Tamika's Vettri Kazhagam.

Jana Nayagan marks Vijay's farewell film. The film is yet to receive certification.
