Honda has officially teased the upcoming Honda ZR-V e:HEV ahead of its India debut on May 22, marking the arrival of an all-new premium SUV for the brand in the country. The SUV is set to be unveiled alongside the updated Honda City and is expected to be positioned as Honda’s flagship offering in India.

The teaser image previews the SUV’s sleek front-end silhouette, revealing sharp LED headlamps with distinctive L-shaped daytime running lights, a sculpted bonnet and a clean crossover-like stance. Flush-style roof rails and a sunroof are also visible, hinting at a feature-rich package for the India-bound model.

The ZR-V e:HEV is expected to arrive in India via the completely built unit (CBU) route, which is likely to place it in the Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom) price bracket. Once launched, it will take on premium five-seat SUVs such as the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq.

Globally, the ZR-V sits between traditional SUVs and sporty crossovers in terms of styling. Compared to the more upright design of the Honda Elevate, the ZR-V adopts a more aerodynamic and urban-focused silhouette with smoother body lines and a wider stance. International versions of the SUV measure around 4.56 metres in length and feature a cabin layout designed to balance practicality with a more premium feel.

Design elements expected on the India-spec model include a large grille with vertical chrome detailing, sporty bumper-mounted air channels and gloss-black body cladding along the lower sections. The rear profile is likely to feature wraparound LED tail-lamps, a blacked-out bumper and dual exhaust finishers connected by a chrome strip for a sportier appearance. Alloy wheel sizes could range from 17 to 19 inches, in line with global specifications.

Under the hood, Honda is expected to offer the ZR-V with its 2.0-litre four-cylinder strong-hybrid powertrain paired with an e-CVT automatic gearbox. The setup is likely to produce close to 180bhp and will feature Honda’s e:HEV hybrid technology focused on efficiency as well as refinement.

Inside, the SUV is expected to come equipped with a large freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, wireless phone charging, a powered tailgate and a panoramic sunroof. Honda is also likely to equip the ZR-V e:HEV with an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) package, strengthening its premium positioning in the segment.
