After two decades of anticipation over when she will take the jump, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is all set to enter the electoral fray and Lok Sabha, that is, if she is able to secure a win in the Wayanad bypolls.

With a constituency profile of nearly 43% Muslims, 13% Christians, about 10% tribals, and 7% Dalits, Wayanad remains a Congress stronghold. Priyanka received a warm welcome last week when she arrived to file her nomination papers.

Priyanka will kickstart her campaign in the Hill constituency for two days from today onwards. She will engage with the voters and address party meetings and leaders.

Sharing her schedule, Priyanka on her official X handle said, "The people of Wayanad have stood with truth, justice and democracy in the past and have worked to strengthen the spirit of the Constitution. The people of Wayanad will continue to strengthen the Constitution and democracy and write a new chapter of development and progress. The zeal and enthusiasm of the people is worth seeing."

Her electoral campaign will start on Monday at the Nilgiri College of Arts and Science, where she is slated to arrive around 11:20 am.

Priyanka Gandhi's first meeting will take place at Meenangadi in the Sulthan Bathery Assembly constituency, followed by a public meeting at Panamaram in the Mananthavady Assembly seat at 2:30 pm. She will end the day with a public meeting in Pozhuthana in the Kalpetta Assembly constituency at 4:30 pm, news agency PTI reported.

This is Priyanka’s second visit to the constituency since filing her nomination on October 22. The byelection was called after Rahul Gandhi vacated the seat following his win in Rae Bareli in the recent Lok Sabha elections. The bypoll is set to be held on November 13.

On Tuesday, Priyanka’s campaign will continue, beginning with a meeting at 9:30 am in Thiruvambadi, followed by a gathering in Engapuzha. Her midday schedule includes meetings in Eranad at 12:30 pm and Therattammal later in the day. She will address party workers at 3:00 pm in Wandoor and Mampad, concluding the day with a meeting in Nilambur at 4:30 pm, before proceeding to Chungathara.

AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal and other prominent UDF leaders are expected to join Priyanka at various events across the district.

Priyanka faces LDF’s Sathyan Mokeri, a former MLA, and BJP’s Navya Haridas, a two-time councillor of Kozhikode Corporation.
