Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Russell Crowe team up for sci-fi thriller Bluefly

Actors Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Russell Crowe will star together in sci-fi action thriller Bluefly. The film's pre-sales will launch at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) market ahead of shooting in Australia later this year.

Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Oscar winner Russell Crowe are set to share the screen in the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Bluefly. The film will be directed by Nimród Antal, known for Predators, while the screenplay has been written by David Frigerio, William Eubank and Carlyle Eubank.

Set deep in the Congo, Bluefly follows a grieving UN translator who is pulled into a covert mission to recover a mysterious downed aircraft that officially does not exist. As a Special Operations team travels upriver through militia-controlled territory, the mission takes a dangerous turn, with the closer they get to the aircraft, the more they realise that they were never supposed to bring it back.

According to Deadline, the film is being produced by Michael Jefferson for Polite Society, David Frigerio for Broken Open Pictures, Deborah Glover for G2 Dispatch, Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier for Highland Film Group, and Vanessa Yao Guo. Lia Buman, Guy Davies, RuthAnne Frigerio, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Jason Kringstein, Katie Leary, Scott Levenson and James Norbury are serving as executive producers.

Highland Film Group is handling the worldwide rights to the film and will launch sales at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) market. Principal photography is expected to begin later this year on Australia’s Gold Coast.

Meanwhile, Crowe, who won an Oscar for Gladiator, was recently seen in Nuremberg. He also has several projects lined up, including Netflix’s thriller Unabomber, The Weight, Billion Dollar Spy and Amazon MGM’s Highlander reboot.

Priyanka, on the other hand, recently starred in Prime Video’s The Bluff and appeared in Heads of State alongside Idris Elba and John Cena. She is also set to headline SS Rajamouli’s upcoming action-adventure epic Varanasi. The film is scheduled for release in April 2027.
