Patriot pre-sales: Mammootty-Mohanlal film eyes Rs 25 crore global opening day

Advance booking for Patriot, starring Mammootty and Mohanlal, has gathered pace ahead of its theatrical release on May 1, 2026. The film has already made an impact before release and has entered the list of top opening-day pre-sales performers as it earned over rs 3 crore in Kerala and Rs 9 crore globally. It is eyeing a Rs 25 crore global opening, potentially becoming the second-highest Malayalam opener to date.

Box office tracker Jerin Georgekutty shared key updates about the film's performance. He stated in his post that the worldwide advance booking total is now nearing Rs 9 crore.

Patriot grossed Rs 3.50 crore in Kerala pre-sales while all India bookings crossed the 4 crore mark for the opening day. Overseas advance sales are equally solid. In the Gulf region, Patriot has already crossed the 4 crore mark, while the worldwide sales are nearing the 10 crore mark, with 1 day still left for the release, according to Sacnilk. This makes it one of the biggest pre-sales for a Malayalam title, hinting at a big opening.

Bookings opened in Kerala on April 28, and nearly 10,000 tickets were sold within minutes, as reported by The Times of India. By 1 pm, the count had reached 85,000 tickets, while revenue crossed Rs 1.50 lakh in the state.

The film had also shown strong traction in overseas markets even before bookings opened in Kerala. The international advance sales crossed USD 200,000, (over Rs 1.8 crore), as reported by Sacnilk. The film is expected to perform well outside India, and its theme also appears to connect with audiences worldwide.

Patriot is expected to log a massive worldwide opening as per current trade estimates. The film is likely to start within the Rs 10-12+ crore gross range at the domestic box office, while overseas markets are heading toward a Rs 15 crore start, depending on final pre-release sales, as reported by Sacnilk.

If these projections hold, Patriot is set to achieve the second-biggest opening for a Malayalam title with a Rs 25+ crore worldwide start. Currently, Mohanlal’s Empuraan maintains the record for the biggest Mollywood opener, having delivered an earth-shattering Rs 70 crore gross on its first day.

Patriot also features Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, and Darshana Rajendran in key roles. The film is dorected by Mahesh Narayanan.

The film is set for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026.
