Bajaj Pulsar N160 S, N160 SS launched, price starts at Rs 1.33 lakh

Bajaj Auto has expanded its Pulsar N160 range with the new N160 S and N160 SS, bringing a more powerful 4-valve engine, ride modes, traction control and advanced connected features.

Bajaj Auto has expanded its Pulsar N160 lineup with the launch of the new N160 S and N160 SS in India. Priced at Rs 1.33 lakh and Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively, the two motorcycles bring a more powerful 4-valve engine, ride modes and additional technology to the 160cc Pulsar range.

The launch comes as Pulsar celebrates its 25th anniversary. With the new variants, Bajaj aims to push the N160 further upmarket while continuing to offer the existing N160 alongside the new models.

More powerful engine

The biggest change on the new Pulsar N160 S and N160 SS is the new 164.5cc, 4-valve engine. It produces 18.5bhp, making it significantly more powerful than the existing N160's 164.9cc, 2-valve motor, which develops 16bhp.

The new engine produces 14.4Nm of torque and is claimed to accelerate the motorcycle from 0-60kmph in 4.5 seconds. Bajaj claims this makes the new N160 the fastest and most powerful motorcycle in its segment.

The new engine is paired with an Intelligent Throttle, or Electronic Throttle-by-Wire (ETB), which continuously adjusts throttle response for smoother power delivery.

Four ride modes and new rider technology

The ETB system also enables four riding modes: Rain, Sport, Road and Off-road. These modes alter the motorcycle's performance characteristics depending on riding conditions, giving riders different throttle responses for everyday commuting, spirited riding and low-grip conditions.

The N160 SS additionally gets responsive traction control, which works with the electronic throttle system to help maintain grip across changing road surfaces.

Another new feature is Crawl Technology. It is designed to make low-speed riding easier, allowing the motorcycle to move smoothly at low speeds even in higher gears without requiring frequent clutch operation or downshifts. This should be particularly useful in stop-and-go urban traffic.

N160 SS gets TFT display with Google Maps

The flagship N160 SS gets a 5-inch TFT instrument console with Google Maps mirroring. Bajaj claims this is a first for a sports motorcycle in India, allowing riders to mirror Google Maps navigation onto the motorcycle's display.

The N160 S, meanwhile, gets a simpler setup while retaining the new-generation mechanical and electronic upgrades.

The N160 SS also gets sharper graphics, coloured alloy wheels, a revised handlebar angle and changes to the seat height aimed at improving rider comfort and enhancing its streetfighter styling.

Both new variants are available in three colours – Atlantic Blue, Pearl Metallic White and Brooklyn Black.

Prices and positioning

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 S is priced at Rs 1,33,511, while the Pulsar N160 SS costs Rs 1,42,585 (both ex-showroom, Delhi). The existing Pulsar N160 will continue to be sold alongside the new variants.

Bajaj says the N160 range has grown by 60 per cent in the first six months of 2026, three times the growth rate of the relevant industry. The company also claims that 70 per cent of N160 buyers are under the age of 35.

With the new N160 S and N160 SS, Bajaj is effectively broadening the Pulsar N160 family, offering buyers a choice between the existing model and the more performance- and technology-focused new variants. The 4-valve engine, electronic throttle, multiple ride modes, traction control and Google Maps-enabled TFT console also make the new N160 SS one of the most technologically loaded motorcycles in the 160cc segment.
