Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have made significant changes to their squads ahead of IPL 2027, completing a four-player trade that sees Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards move to Chennai, while Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis head to Hyderabad.
The deal brings Livingstone to CSK at INR 6 crore, less than half the INR 13 crore at which SRH had originally signed the England all-rounder. His ability to clear the boundaries and offer spin options could add another dimension to Chennai's middle order.
Edwards joins him at his existing fee of INR 3 crore. The Australian seam-bowling all-rounder is yet to make his IPL debut, having missed the 2026 season with a foot injury.
For SRH, the arrival of Khaleel and Ellis addresses their pace-bowling resources. Khaleel returns to a franchise he represented between 2018 and 2021 after two seasons with CSK. He had a productive IPL 2025, picking up 15 wickets in 14 matches, but managed only five appearances in the following season before a right quadriceps injury ended his campaign.
Ellis, meanwhile, arrives at INR 2 crore. The Australian has built a reputation for his variations and ability to bowl at the death, giving SRH another option in the pace department.
Khaleel's existing fee is INR 4.8 crore, meaning SRH have brought in two Australian and Indian pace options as part of a deal that also sees them part ways with Livingstone and Edwards.
