- Roll number remains mandatory for official CBSE result access
- DigiLocker and UMANG also require student credentials
- Schools can help students recover forgotten roll numbers
As students wait for the CBSE 12th Result 2026, it is now over as the results have been declared. Many are also searching online for ways to check their scores without a roll number. However, official CBSE platforms currently do not allow Class 12 result access without key student credentials. To view marks online, students generally need their roll number along with school number and admit card ID.
While alternate platforms like DigiLocker and the UMANG app offer easier access options, the roll number still remains necessary for verified result downloads and marksheet access.
OFFICIAL CBSE WEBSITES REQUIRE ROLL NUMBER
Students checking results through official portals such as cbseresults.nic.in and results.nic.in must enter:
- Roll number
- School number
- Admit card ID
At present, CBSE does not provide any official name-based result search facility for Class 12 students on its websites.
DIGILOCKER AND UMANG ALSO NEED DETAILS
The UMANG app may allow students to access results using roll number and date of birth in some cases, reducing the need for additional credentials. However, the roll number is still required.
Similarly, DigiLocker requires students to log in using their Aadhaar-linked mobile number or registered credentials. Students also need their roll number and the six-digit access PIN usually shared by CBSE through SMS or schools.
Once verified, students can download digitally signed marksheets and certificates from the platform.
SMS SERVICE ALSO NEEDS ROLL NUMBER
Students can also receive CBSE Class 12 results through SMS services, but this method also requires roll number details.
The usual format includes:
The message can then be sent to the official CBSE SMS service number once activated during result declaration.
AVOID UNOFFICIAL NAME-SEARCH WEBSITES
Several YouTube videos and third-party websites claim to offer name-based CBSE result searches. However, these platforms are not officially endorsed by CBSE and may provide inaccurate or incomplete information.
Students are advised to avoid sharing personal details on unofficial portals and use only trusted CBSE-linked platforms for result access.
