Sunetra Pawar wins Baramati bypoll by over 2 lakh votes
Sunetra Pawar won the Baramati bypoll by more than 2 lakh votes. The result follows a by-election triggered by Ajit Pawar's death in a plane crash in January.
by India Today News Desk · India TodaySunetra Pawar of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) registered a landslide victory in the Baramati bypoll, winning by over 2 lakh votes after counting concluded across all 24 rounds.
According to data released by the Election Commission of India, Sunetra Ajit Pawar secured 2,09,921 votes in Assembly Constituency 201 – Baramati, defeating RY Ghutukade of the New Rashtriya Samaj Party, who managed just 873 votes. Pawar’s winning margin stood at a massive 2,09,048 votes.
The bypoll, held on April 23, was necessitated following the death of former Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar, who died in a plane crash near the Baramati airstrip in Pune district on January 28.
