Hyundai records highest-ever August sales, domestic sales rise 23.6% to 54,396 units

Hyundai Motor India has reported strong sales performance for August 2026, with domestic sales growing 23.6% year-on-year to 54,396 units. According to the automaker, this is the highest-ever domestic sales figure recorded by Hyundai for any August month.
Total monthly sales, including exports, stood at 65,796 units, registering an 8.8% year-on-year growth. Of this, domestic sales accounted for 54,396 units, while exports stood at 11,400 units.
The strong domestic performance comes as Hyundai continues to maintain its growth momentum in the current financial year. During the April-August period of FY2027, HMIL recorded 12.6% year-on-year growth in domestic sales.
Hyundai says product portfolio drives domestic growth
Commenting on the August sales performance, Tarun Garg, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India, said the company continues to sustain strong growth momentum in FY2027.
He highlighted the 23.6% year-on-year growth in August domestic sales, noting that the record figure reflects the popularity of Hyundai’s product portfolio.
Hyundai said its versatile range of vehicles continued to attract strong customer demand in the domestic market during the month.
Exports impacted by logistical constraints
While domestic sales recorded strong growth, Hyundai’s export performance was affected during August. The company exported 11,400 units during the month.
According to HMIL, exports were impacted by logistical constraints arising from the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the broader geopolitical environment during August.
Garg said Hyundai remains optimistic that export demand will continue to remain strong in the coming months as the geopolitical situation improves.
With domestic sales reaching a record high for an August month and registering double-digit growth during the April-August period, Hyundai enters the upcoming months with continued momentum in the Indian market.
