Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka expressed his belief that the Gunners could finally end their 21-year Premier League title drought following their 2-0 victory over Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday. Saka, one of the goal scorers alongside Kai Havertz, highlighted the team's growing confidence after the win.

Last season, Arsenal pushed the title race to the final day, narrowly missing out and finishing second to Manchester City. This season, they are once again contenders, currently sitting third in the Premier League. The commanding performance against PSG further showcased their potential to challenge for the crown. Speaking to the reporters after the win, Saka said that while he doesn't want to put pressure on themselves, he does feel the 2024-25 season could be the one for Arsenal.

"I don't want to put too much pressure on us but I do think that this is the year (that we can win the title)," Saka told CBS Sports.

"I think we've been close the last two years and we're getting closer but this hopefully will be the year."

Saka, now a pivotal figure for Arsenal and the club's top scorer in the Premier League last season, admitted that the team's close calls have only fuelled his desire for success. The winger emphasized how the narrow misses in recent campaigns have deepened his hunger to secure major silverware for the club.

"Previous years, I've come runners-up a lot. It's just that spirit in me that I want to win this season and of course, I believe in myself a lot," the 23-year-old told Amazon Prime.

"With those two things, it helps. We believe in ourselves, we believe we're a top team. We showed that tonight (against PSG). I did tell the boys we have to make a statement when big teams are coming to the Emirates."

Arsenal have already faced City in the Premier League and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. The Gunners will now welcome Southampton to the Emirates on Saturday, October 5.
