Indian Army opens officer entry for engineering graduates with Rs 56,400 stipend

The Indian Army has invited applications for TGC-145 for the July 2027 course. The entry offers engineering graduates a route to officer commissioning after IMA training.

The Indian Army has issued a notice for the Technical Graduate Course (TGC-145) for engineering graduates seeking a commission as officers in the Armed Forces. The course is scheduled for July 2027, with the application window opening on September 30, 2026, and remaining open until October 29, 2026.

Candidates who meet the prescribed conditions may apply through the official Army recruitment website, joinindianarmy.nic.in. Those selected will undergo pre-commission training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. During the training, candidates will receive a stipend of Rs 56,400 per month.

Upon successful completion of the training, selected candidates will be commissioned as Lieutenants in the Indian Army. Officers commissioned through the course will also be granted one year of ante-date seniority for the purpose of pay and promotion.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection shall proceed through several stages. Candidates must first submit their applications, after which eligible applicants will be shortlisted.

Those shortlisted will appear before the Services Selection Board (SSB) for interviews, followed by medical examination.

A merit list will thereafter be prepared, and joining letters will be issued to candidates selected for the course.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENGINEERING STREAMS

Candidates holding a Bachelor of Engineering (BE), Bachelor of Technology (BTech) or Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science, in the notified engineering streams, may apply.

Final-year engineering students may also submit their applications, provided they fulfil the conditions laid down by the Army. Such candidates will be required to produce proof of having passed their Engineering Degree Examination, along with the marksheets of all semesters or years.

Candidates may be commissioned into the Corps of Engineers, Corps of Signals and Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers. Depending upon the requirements of the Army, candidates may also be commissioned into other Arms and Services.

HOW TO APPLY

Applicants may submit their forms through joinindianarmy.nic.in. They must select Officer Entry Apply/Login and complete the registration process. Registered candidates may log in using their existing credentials.

After logging in, applicants must select Apply Online and choose Technical Graduate Course (TGC-145) July 2027. They will then be required to enter their personal, educational and communication details, along with their engineering stream.

Applicants should review the information carefully before submitting the form. After submission, they should download and retain a printout of the completed application for future reference.
