AR Rahman's son and singer AR Ameen has issued a statement following the car accident he was involved in near the Kathipara flyover in Guindy, Chennai, in the early hours of Monday. He has now assured fans and well-wishers that he is safe. His sister, Khatija Rahman, also shared a statement clarifying the circumstances surrounding the accident and urged media outlets to verify details before reporting.

Ameen said he was travelling in the passenger seat of his friend's car when they were involved in the minor accident. He thanked his family, friends and well-wishers for reaching out to him and sending their prayers. "By God's grace, everyone involved is safe and okay," Ameen said, expressing gratitude for the protection and support he received.

He also spoke about the values and prayers of his family, saying that his later grandmother, father AR Rahman and GV Anna's [composer GV Prakash Kumar] prayers and teachings continue to guide him.

Khatija Rahman clarifies accident details

Khatija, meanwhile, said Ameen was on his way to the airport and was seated in the passenger seat while his friend was driving. According to her, the car was involved in a minor collision after the driver of another vehicle ahead of them moved forward despite the traffic signal being red. She clarified that Ameen, his friend and the occupant of the other vehicle were all safe.

Khatija also addressed reports about the incident and said there had been some inaccurate information circulating about what happened. "We kindly request that news reports verify the facts and, whenever possible, clarify the details with the family before reporting," she said, stressing that accurate reporting was particularly important during situations that could cause unnecessary worry and distress.

On the work front, Ameen recently lent his voice to the Tamil version of Chikiri Chikiri from Ram Charan's recently released film Peddi. He also collaborated with Jasleen Royal on the independent single, Bheegi Bheegi, which features Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur.
