Parth Jindal appointed chairman of JSW MG Motor India

Parth Jindal has been appointed chairman of JSW MG Motor India, taking charge as the automaker continues to expand its electric vehicle portfolio, manufacturing capacity and localisation efforts.

Parth Jindal has been appointed chairman of JSW MG Motor India, with immediate effect. The appointment was announced following a meeting of the company’s Board of Directors on August 31.

Jindal has been a member of the Board since the formation of the joint venture between JSW Group and SAIC Motor. In this role, he has been involved in the company’s product strategy, manufacturing expansion and localisation efforts.

Jindal currently serves as managing director of JSW Cement and JSW Paints, chairman of JSW Dulux Limited and a director on the board of JSW Energy. He is also the founder of JSW Sports and chairman and co-owner of the Delhi Capitals.

JSW MG Motor India was formed as a joint venture between JSW Group and SAIC Motor, bringing together JSW’s understanding of the Indian market and SAIC’s global automotive expertise. The company has been expanding its manufacturing capabilities, local supply chain and electric vehicle portfolio in India.

The carmaker claims to have sold more than 1.5 lakh electric vehicles in India since launching its first EV. The MG Windsor, its latest electric model, is also claimed to be the country’s best-selling EV.

Jindal’s appointment comes as JSW MG Motor India continues to expand its presence in India’s electric and sustainable mobility space, while increasing localisation and manufacturing capacity.
