India and Australia are all set to face each other in the all-important opening Test at the Perth Stadium, starting November 22. India will be without their skipper Rohit Sharma for the match, and it’s Jasprit Bumrah, who will step out for toss on Day 1 of the West Test. Bumrah has led India only once in Test cricket, back in 2022 against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

India are also looking to select an opening partner for Yashasvi Jaiswal in the absence of Rohit. KL Rahul, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Dhruv Jurel are being thought about as options for Jaiswal’s opening partner. In the fast bowling department, Bumrah will lead in the absence of Mohammed Shami, who recently returned to competitive cricket in the Ranji Trophy.

For Australia, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are likely to hold the key. Travis Head has been a brute force in the middle-order and his role is going to hold a lot of importance. Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are likely to pose a massive threat. Nathan Lyon has also been a tireless servant for Australian cricket over the years.

India have played at WACA plenty of times in their history on Australian soil, but they have played only once at the Perth Stadium. Australia, on the other hand, have had a dominating run at the new stadium in Perth, having not been beaten even once. Hence, it goes without saying that India have their task cut out before the Perth Test.
