Released on Tuesday, the trailer introduces Chalamet as Joe, a reserved rocket mechanic, and Gomez as Fran, an ambitious astro-botanist developing the world's first plant-fuelled rocket. Their professional partnership quickly becomes more complicated when three tiny extraterrestrials seek refuge on Earth, setting the stage for an adventure that blends romance, comedy and science fiction.

What is Not Alone about?

According to the official synopsis, Joe prefers a quiet, solitary life until he crosses paths with Fran while preparing for the inaugural launch of her revolutionary rocket. Although sparks fly between the pair, neither is particularly comfortable navigating romance.

Their lives are soon disrupted by Dunk, Welly and Shirm, three adorable aliens hiding from Officer Zandro, an overzealous but incompetent interplanetary law enforcer. Hoping to return home safely, the trio believes Fran's experimental rocket could be the key to their escape, drawing Joe and Fran into an intergalactic chase.

Who else is part of the voice cast?

The alien trio is voiced by British comedians Rob Brydon, Diane Morgan and Jamie Demetriou, while Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein lends his voice to Officer Zandro. The supporting cast also features Allison Janney and Lamorne Morris.

When will Not Alone be released?

Not Alone is co-directed by Eric Guillon, Claire Dodgson and Jonathan Del Val, all of whom have previously worked on several Illumination hits, including the Minions and Despicable Me franchises.

The film is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri, with Joy Poirel, Richard Curtis and David Distenfeld serving as executive producers. Backed by Illumination and Universal Pictures, Not Alone is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on April 16, 2027.
