US President Donald Trump on Monday reiterated that Iran should hand over its enriched uranium to the United States for destruction, saying the material could either be removed from Iran or destroyed under international supervision at an agreed location.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the enriched uranium — which he described as “nuclear dust” — should be “immediately turned over to the United States to be brought home and destroyed” or eliminated “in conjunction and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran” at another acceptable site.

“The Enriched Uranium (Nuclear Dust!) will either be immediately turned over to the United States to be brought home and destroyed or, preferably, in conjunction and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, destroyed in place or, at another acceptable location, with the Atomic Energy Commission, or its equivalent, being witness to this process and event,” Trump wrote.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions over Iran’s nuclear programme and ongoing international scrutiny of Tehran’s uranium enrichment activities. Iran has consistently maintained that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes, while the US has expressed concerns over the level of uranium enrichment and its potential military implications.
