David Burke, a 21-year-old musician known professionally as D4vd, has been charged with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas. The announcement was made by Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman on Monday.

According to Reuters, Hochman stated that Rivas's remains were discovered last year in the front trunk of a car registered to D4vd. She had been missing for nearly a year and a half when her decomposed remains were found in September 2025.

Body found in an abandoned vehicle

The vehicle had been parked for weeks in a Hollywood Hills neighbourhood before being towed to an impound lot, where workers reported a foul odour.

According to police records obtained by TMZ, sheriff’s deputies visited her residence in Lake Elsinore, California, 11 times from February 2024 to April 2025. Most calls were logged as "minor crime investigation," with one noted for "suspicious circumstances."

Missing case and discovery timeline

On April 5, 2024, Rivas Hernandez’s family reported her missing. Eighteen months later, her dismembered body was located inside the Tesla’s trunk. The vehicle, registered to D4vd, had Texas license plates.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner had labelled her cause of death as "deferred" while further testing proceeds. Investigators believed her body had been in the vehicle for several weeks.
