  • Leaked files reportedly map hundreds of components to named suppliers
  • Records show where Apple uses multiple vendors or limited sourcing
  • Photographs allegedly capture drop tests at a Tata facility in 2026

Supplier lists, component maps and photographs of Apple's unreleased iPhone 18 Pro models are among the sensitive files that surfaced on the dark web following a cyberattack on Tata Electronics, one of Apple's key manufacturing partners in India, according to a Reuters report.

The leaked documents, allegedly published by ransomware group World Leaks, provide an unusually detailed look at Apple's closely guarded supply chain for its next-generation iPhone. Reuters reported that the files map hundreds of iPhone 18 Pro components to specific suppliers, including parts used in the phone's battery, cameras and main circuit board.

Apple does not publicly disclose which supplier manufactures a specific component for its devices. According to Reuters, the company considers such information highly sensitive because it reveals how its global supply chain is structured and where it depends on a limited number of suppliers.

The report said the leaked records also show where Apple sources the same component from multiple vendors and where it relies on just one or two suppliers, potentially exposing vulnerabilities in its manufacturing network.

Another significant part of the leak is a set of photographs that reportedly show iPhone 18 Pro models undergoing drop tests at a Tata Electronics facility. Reuters reported that the images, dated early 2026, carry Apple's "confidential" watermark and internal code names associated with the iPhone 18 Pro generation. While Reuters could not independently verify the model shown in the photographs, it cited a source familiar with the matter as saying they depict unreleased iPhone 18 Pro devices.

The newly leaked material is part of a much larger cache of more than 200,000 files stolen from Tata Electronics and published on the dark web. Reuters had earlier reported that those files included design documents linked to older iPhone models, Tesla components and records relating to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and Qualcomm, both key Apple suppliers.

Reuters said it had not independently verified the authenticity of the latest files and could not immediately reach World Leaks for comment. Apple and Tata Electronics also did not respond to the news agency's requests for comment.

The breach comes at a critical time for Apple's manufacturing operations in India. Tata Electronics has rapidly emerged as one of Apple's biggest partners outside China, supplying components and assembling iPhones.

It was reported earlier that Apple is investigating the breach and working with Tata Electronics to strengthen cybersecurity. Tata has restricted access to sensitive internal systems and appointed a global consultant to conduct a forensic audit.

According to Counterpoint Research, India is expected to produce 26% of the world's iPhones in 2026, up from just 6% four years ago, underscoring the growing importance of securing Apple's Indian supply chain.
