Two alleged shooters linked to the firing outside singer, songwriter and music composer Guru Randhawa's gym in Delhi's Paschim Vihar were injured in an encounter with the Delhi Police Special Cell's Counter Intelligence Unit, officials said.
The encounter took place in the Paschim Vihar area, where the police team intercepted the two accused, identified as Haqeeqat and Sagar. Both suspects sustained bullet injuries to their legs during the exchange of fire.
According to police, the two men had allegedly carried out the firing at Guru Randhawa's gym in Paschim Vihar recently. CCTV footage from the incident showed the two shooters firing at the gym premises. The responsibility for the attack was later claimed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Police said the firing was allegedly carried out due to Guru Randhawa's reported proximity to actor Salman Khan.
The two accused, residents of Haryana's Sonipat, are suspected to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi-Anil Pandit gang, police said. During the encounter, officials recovered Pakistan-made weapons and a motorcycle from their possession.
According to police, the two suspects were roaming in Delhi with an alleged plan to carry out another major crime. When the Special Cell team attempted to stop them in Paschim Vihar, the accused allegedly opened fire, following which the police retaliated and overpowered them.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
