A woman was killed, and her husband was injured after a speeding truck loaded with concrete ran over their motorcycle in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur. The incident took place on Friday evening.

The woman, identified as Manjesh, was dragged by the out-of-control dumper for around 10 metres and died on the spot. Meanwhile, her husband, Ramniwas, escaped with minor injuries.

The accident, which was caught on CCTV, triggered anger among locals, who blocked a road in protest.

The crowd also thrashed the truck driver. Assistant Sub-Inspector Kaluram Choudhary, who was present at the spot, rescued him. The driver was later taken into police custody.

Meanwhile, some people from the mob set the vehicle on fire. The police are working to identify those responsible for torching the truck.

COUPLE WERE PART OF PILGRIMS' GROUP

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) (West) Bhajanlal Jangid said a group of around 20–25 devotees had travelled to Ramdevra to offer prayers. They were returning from the pilgrimage site when the incident happened.

According to police, the accident occurred when the motorcycle and the truck were travelling alongside each other.

A young man travelling with the group said they were supposed to take another route but accidentally lost their way and travelled toward the area where the accident later happened.
