Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay surprised photographers when he stepped behind the camera during a special interaction with them at the Secretariat.

To commemorate World Photography Day on August 19, Vijay picked up a professional camera and shifted the focus to photographers around him, who suddenly found themselves on the other side of the lens.

He clicked pictures and recorded videos as the photographers walked into the Secretariat, greeted them and interacted with them during the event.

World Photography Day is observed every year on August 19 to celebrate the art, craft and history of photography and recognise the role photographers play in documenting people, events and moments.

Vijay transitioned from a successful career in Tamil cinema to politics, launching his own party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in 2024. He assumed office as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu in May after a sweeping victory in the assembly elections.

Meanwhile, by stepping behind the camera himself, Vijay gave the press photographers a moment where they were no longer just documenting the occasion but became part of it.
