India's challenge at the Malaysia Open 2025 came to an end on Saturday, January 11 as Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty crashed out in the semi-finals of the men's doubles. Satwik-Chirag were defeated by the South Korean pair of Won Ho Kim and Seung Jae Seo by a margin of 10-21, 15-21 as they couldn't make it to the final of the Super 1000 tournament at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur.

The Indian duo had a tough challenge in the quarterfinals as they saw off a stern test against the Malaysian pair of Yew Sin Ong and Ee Yi Teo with a scoreline of 26-24, 21-15 in 49 minutes. However, luck was certainly not on the side of Satwik-Chirag on Saturday as they were outclassed by their South Korean counterparts. The Indian duo had a rather slow start to their game and found themselves trailing 6-11 at the halfway mark of the first game.

The Korean duo dominated the court throughout and took the first game within 19 minutes to push Satwik-Chirag on the backfoot. The second game was a lot better for the Indian duo as they would show more resilience and had gone into an 11-8 lead at the halfway mark.

However, the happiness for the fans of the Indian duo was short-lived as Kim and Seo mounted a comeback and sealed the game 21-15 to dump Satwik-Chirag out of the competition and progress to the final. India's challenge also at the Super 1000 tournament came to an end with the defeat of Satwik-Chirag as Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand, Priyanshu Rajawat and others exited the competition within the first 2 rounds.
