by · India Today

A major safety lapse was caught on camera during an inspection tour in Mumbai's Hindmata area. While accompanying the Mumbai mayor on an inspection to assess municipal drainage and waterlogging amid heavy monsoon rainfall, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) employee fell into an open manhole. Other municipal officials immediately rescued the employee from the ditch. Residents highlighted that the incident reflects the daily struggles of citizens navigating open drains, waterlogged streets, and overall civic issues in Mumbai during the rainy season. Although the civic body has maintained that the drainage situation is under control, the accident has exposed critical safety gaps.
