The Brazil national football team is maintaining its strict dietary discipline in Kolkata, with meals being prepared exclusively by their own chefs and nutritionists who have travelled with the squad, sources in the team camp said.

Although the state government has arranged Indian, Bengali and other cuisines for the official state dinner, the Brazilian players are learnt to be preferring food cooked by their own culinary team to stay on their defined nutrition plan.

WHAT IS ON BRAZIL'S MENU?

The footballers are being served meals nearly five times a day, with every dish prepared under the supervision of team chefs and nutritionists. Oil usage is strictly controlled, with olive oil being the primary choice.

Lunch and dinner menus include rice, spaghetti, baked beans, fish, chicken, meat, green salad and moderate portions of dessert.

Special emphasis is being laid on fish. Known fish lovers, the Brazilian stars are enjoying a variety of fresh fish in Kolkata, often described as a hub of fish. Team sources said the chefs are preparing the seafood themselves.

Meals are rounded off with moderate portions of rice, various lentils and beans, potatoes, vegetables and salad.

Breakfast, also prepared by their own chefs on Friday morning in Kolkata, includes bread, boiled eggs, fruits and green vegetable salads. The players are following a specific regimen for beverages as well.

Fresh fruits and dry fruits are also part of the team's diet. Even the team's drinking water is being sourced from outside, sources said.

Alongside the diet, the players are also doing light gym sessions in the morning.

In short, Brazil's routine in Kolkata ahead of the FIFA friendly is being run entirely on their own terms, with their own chefs, own nutritionists and a strictly defined diet.
