Ahmedabad student walking to college dies after being hit by crane, tragedy caught on camera

A 19-year-old college student died after a crane ran over her while she was walking to college in Ahmedabad. CCTV footage of the fatal accident has surfaced.

The victim, Prerna Ninama, was a first-year Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology student.

According to the CCTV footage, Prerna was walking from the highway towards her college when a crane approached from behind and hit her. She sustained severe injuries in the collision and died at the spot.

After the accident, the crane driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. People in the surrounding area immediately reached the spot and informed the police about the injured student.

Traffic police launched a search for the absconding crane driver and also sent Prerna's body for a post-mortem examination.

A police official said they had started an investigation based on the CCTV footage. Police have detained the crane driver who fled the scene after the accident and initiated legal action.

Police are also collecting details about the crane, including who owns it and where it was headed at the time of the accident.
