Veteran voice actor Tom Kane, best known for voicing Professor Utonium in the popular animated series The Powerpuff Girls, died at the age of 64. His death was confirmed by TMZ through his representative, marking the loss of one of animation’s most recognisable voices.

According to his representative, Zach McGinnis, Kane died due to complications arising from the stroke he suffered in 2020. He was reportedly hospitalised in Kansas City, where he breathed his last at the hospital.

Kane had suffered a major stroke in November 2020, which severely impacted his health. Reports stated that the left side of his brain was affected, weakening the right side of his body and damaging the speech centre of his brain.

Due to these complications, the actor lost his ability to speak in his final years. His condition gradually worsened over time, eventually leading to his death on May 18.

Paying tribute to the late actor, his representative shared an emotional statement with TMZ.

"Though his voice may now be silent, the characters, stories and love he gave to the world will live on forever," the statement read.

The statement further added, "But beyond the incredible career was an extraordinary man."

"Tom was a devoted husband and father who, alongside his wife, built a loving family of nine children - three biological and six welcomed through adoption and fostering."

Apart from The Powerpuff Girls, Kane was also widely recognised for his work in the Star Wars franchise. He voiced Admiral Ackbar in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and also lent his voice to Jedi Master Yoda and Admiral Yularen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Roberts, and their nine children, leaving behind a legacy that spans decades of iconic animated and cinematic characters.
