After weeks of teasers and leaks, Vivo has finally confirmed the launch date for its upcoming foldable Vivo X Fold 6. It is rolling out on the 26th of June in China. Pre-orders are now open online in mainland China, but what makes things more interesting is that those who place an order will be entered into a lucky draw for a chance to win the phone entirely free.
Vivo X Fold 6 design
Earlier leaks revealed the smartphone's colour and design; now the official teaser corroborates those rumours. The smartphone will come in a “Blue Hole” colourway that is inspired by deep-sea blue sinkholes, retaining the design language similar to its predecessor. A large circular camera module sits on the rear side, housing a triple-camera setup and dual-LED flash system.
Compared to last year's launch, Vivo X Fold5, the new foldable appears to feature more rounded corners and a slightly wider aspect ratio with a 2.5D metal frame with vertical edges.
Vivo X Fold 6 known specs and features
Vivo is positioning the Fold 6 as a "foldable mini DSLR," and the camera credentials back that claim up. The device packs a 200MP sensor alongside a Zeiss APO super periscope telephoto lens, a first for any foldable smartphone. Rounding out the imaging setup is the Blueprint V3+ imaging chip, support for the Vivo Zeiss G2 teleconverter equivalent to 200mm, and multiple colour style options to choose from.
Under the hood, the foldable is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition. According to Vivo, the chip has been nearly two years in the making, built specifically with foldable devices in mind. The results speak for themselves — NPU performance is reportedly 111% higher than the previous generation, while power consumption has been cut down by 56%.
The device will run on OriginOS 6 Fold and come with an upgraded version of Atomic Workbench, Vivo’s multi-app productivity feature designed for foldable displays.
Vivo has paid close attention to the display department as well. Both the inner and outer screens make use of the latest generation of luminescent materials, with the inner display stepping things up further with Samsung M14 luminescent material, delivering higher peak brightness while keeping power consumption in check.
Vivo X Fold 6 expected specs and features
Rumours suggest that the vivo X Fold6 could feature an 8-inch foldable inner display paired with a 6.51-inch cover screen. In terms of photography, leaks claim that the device may come with a 200-megapixel primary camera, along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera for enhanced zoom capabilities. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is also expected to be included. To keep the lights on, the vivo X Fold6 is tipped to pack a massive 6,900mAh cell.
