Mini has launched the new Cooper S GP Inspired Edition in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 58.9 lakh. Unveiled at the newly inaugurated Mini Eminent Cars dealership in Surat, the limited-run hot hatch will be brought to the country as a completely built-up unit (CBU), with only 30 units allocated for the Indian market.

Inspired by the Mini GP, the special edition brings a host of cosmetic and feature upgrades over the standard Cooper S while retaining the same turbo-petrol performance setup. Bookings are now open across all authorised Mini dealerships, with deliveries commencing immediately.

Speaking at the launch, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said the Cooper S GP Inspired Edition celebrates the raw racing pedigree of the iconic Mini GP while offering customers an opportunity to own a rare and exclusive version of the hatchback.

The GP Inspired Edition is finished in an exclusive ‘Legend Grey’ exterior shade contrasted by ‘Chilli Red’ accents on the roof, mirror caps and various aerodynamic elements. The car also gets GP-inspired bonnet and side stripes, JCW front and rear winglets, a JCW roof spoiler extension and a rear diffuser to further amplify its sporty stance.

Adding to the exclusivity is the ‘1 of 30’ badging on the C-pillar and inside the cabin. Depending on the market specification, the hatchback rides on JCW-spec alloy wheels finished in a dual-tone design with Chilli Red centre caps.

The front fascia features a JCW-specific grille and bumper setup, along with red accent detailing and tow strap-inspired styling elements. Mini has also equipped the car with redesigned LED headlamps and matrix-style rear lights that feature three selectable signature lighting modes with animated welcome and goodbye sequences.

Inside, the GP Inspired Edition carries forward the sporty character with JCW Sport Seats upholstered in Vescin Black with contrast detailing, a JCW steering wheel with paddle shifters, illuminated GP-inspired door sills and bespoke ‘1 of 30’ floor mats. The dashboard and door panels use a recycled knitted textile finish, continuing Mini's push toward sustainable interior materials.

The cabin is centred around a 240mm circular OLED touchscreen running Mini Operating System 9. Features on offer include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic glass roof, head-up display, connected car technology, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging and over-the-air software updates.

The hatchback also gets Mini Experience Modes that alter lighting, graphics and drive characteristics, including the race-inspired ‘Go-Kart Mode’. Other highlights include the Mini Intelligent Personal Assistant with voice commands, Digital Key Plus smartphone integration and a fisheye cabin camera capable of capturing photos and videos.

Powering the Cooper S GP Inspired Edition is the familiar 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 204bhp and 300Nm of torque. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the hot hatch can sprint from 0-100kmph in 6.6 seconds before reaching a claimed top speed of 242kmph.

The model also benefits from adaptive suspension, JCW Sport Brakes and a range of efficiency-focused technologies such as brake energy recuperation and active cooling air ducts.

On the safety front, the Cooper S GP Inspired Edition comes equipped with multiple airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, ABS with Cornering Brake Control, rear-view camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and advanced driver assistance features including cruise control and parking assistance.

Mini is offering the hatchback with a standard two-year unlimited kilometre warranty along with 24x7 roadside assistance. Customers can also opt for extended service and warranty packages of up to 10 years.
