Rajasthan man climbs telecom tower, threatens to end life unless network is restored

A man climbed a telecom tower in Rajasthan's Deeg over a month-long network problem. The standoff ended after police intervened and technicians began addressing the connectivity faults.

A 25-year-old man in Rajasthan climbed a telecom mobile tower after becoming frustrated with a month-long network problem, refusing to come down and threatening to end his life if the issue wasn't addressed.

The incident took place in Bedham village of Deeg district, where residents had been struggling with poor mobile connectivity for nearly a month. The man, identified as Pushkar, climbed the tower and threatened to jump if the network problem was not resolved.

Word of the incident quickly spread through the village, drawing a large crowd to the spot. Police and administrative officials were informed, following which a team from Sadar police station reached the site and began trying to persuade him to climb down.

Videos recorded by bystanders began circulating on social media, while Pushkar himself recorded a video explaining why he had taken the drastic step.

The situation continued for around three and a half hours as police officers spoke to Pushkar from below. Meanwhile, officials contacted the telecom representatives and asked the company’s technical team to reach the spot and address the network problem.

According to Station House Officer (SHO), the weak network had been affecting calls, internet access and online work in the village. Pushkar had also complained that residents were paying for expensive recharge plans despite not receiving adequate network services.

The company’s technicians inspected the tower and worked on the network-related faults. After receiving assurances that the problem would be addressed, Pushkar eventually climbed down safely after spending around three and a half hours on the tower.

The Superintendent of Police also confirmed that the young man had climbed the tower over the network issues and said police had been dispatched immediately after receiving information about the incident.

The episode ended after the network company’s representatives arrived and began work on the connectivity problems, turning what started as a month-long complaint into a dramatic three-and-a-half-hour standoff.
