A CCTV footage has surfaced showing alleged domestic violence by a husband, Executive Engineer Gautam Meena, days before her wife's death.

Anu Meena, a resident, died by suicide on April 7, 2026. Initially, police treated the case as a normal suicide. However, the investigation took a dramatic turn after her family allegedly recovered crucial videos, audio recordings and other evidence from her mobile phone several days later.

Based on the fresh evidence, police registered a dowry death case against Anu’s husband.

The CCTV footage reportedly shows Gautam Meena smashing a television set, vandalising household items and physically assaulting Anu in the presence of their minor child. The footage and mobile recordings allegedly captured repeated incidents of abuse inside the house.

According to the complaint filed by Anu’s brother, Neeraj Meena, Gautam subjected his sister to continuous harassment over dowry demands and mentally tortured her for a long time. The family alleged that Anu had repeatedly told them through video calls and messages that she feared for her life.

Family members claimed that Anu often recorded videos of the alleged abuse, verbal assaults and threats on her phone so that the truth could eventually come out. They alleged that Gautam abused her for hours, threatened her regularly and assaulted her while she tried to save her marriage.

The family also accused Gautam of attempting to harm the family by releasing cooking gas inside the house during one incident. They submitted screenshots related to online money transactions and other digital evidence to the police.

Anu’s mother alleged that Gautam frequently returned home drunk and assaulted her daughter before later apologising to calm the situation.

Recalling her final meeting with Anu, the mother said her daughter had visited her parental home during Karwa Chauth. She said Anu asked her sister-in-law to pack food so that she could break her fast with her husband after returning to her in-laws’ house. She later left with her children, but the family could not stay in regular contact with her afterwards.

Police said they intensified the investigation after the emergence of the new evidence. ACP Aditya Kakde said investigators are examining CCTV footage, call detail records and bank transaction records as part of the probe.
