A five-year-old boy was allegedly murdered in Telangana's Kamareddy district, with police accusing the child's mother and her partner of conspiring to kill him as they saw him as an obstacle to their relationship.

The incident occurred in Sriram Nagar Colony in Kamareddy town. The accused, identified as Narsimlu, had been in a live-in relationship for the past six months with a woman from Rajampet mandal.

Police said the woman had been living separately from her husband along with her two children, an eight-year-old daughter and the boy, Shravan, who was reportedly mentally challenged.

Officials said that the accused and the woman allegedly plotted the murder, believing the child would hinder their relationship. On the day of the incident, when the woman was away, Narsimlu allegedly arrived at the house in an inebriated state, threw chilli powder into the child's eyes, and then fatally assaulted him with a stick, striking his head.

Following information about the crime, Town Circle Inspector Narahari and police teams reached the spot and launched a probe.

Narsimlu and the child's mother have been taken into custody and are being questioned. Further investigation is underway.
