Hyderabad woman cop harassed by gym owner during Ganesh immersion duty, case filed

A Hyderabad fitness club owner was accused of misbehaving with a woman Sub-Inspector during Ganesh immersion bandobast in Almasguda. Police later registered a case, saying he also obstructed her from discharging official duties.

A fitness club owner has been booked for allegedly misbehaving with a woman Sub-Inspector who was performing Ganesh immersion bandobast duty in Hyderabad's Almasguda area, police said.

According to the complaint submitted by Woman SI Devulapally Uma Maheshwari, the incident took place around 3 am on September 23 near Almasguda Kaman and Shloka School, under the Meerpet police station limits.

WHAT HAPPENED

The SI noticed a group of people creating a nuisance and causing inconvenience to the public near Oxygen Fitness Club. As it was late at night, she approached the group and asked them to leave the area.

During the interaction, one of the men allegedly misbehaved with the SI, used inappropriate language and obstructed her from discharging her official duties, the complaint stated.

The man was identified as Saketh Kumar, the owner of Oxygen Fitness Club.

CASE REGISTERED

The complaint was received at Meerpet Police Station at around 10 pm on September 24. Police subsequently registered Crime No. 134/2026 under Sections 74, 75(2) and 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The investigation has been entrusted to SI Ch Nikhil Reddy. Further investigation is underway.
