Delhi's Shubham Kumar tops JEE Advanced 2026; 56,880 candidates qualify
Shubham Kumar of the IIT Delhi zone has topped JEE Advanced 2026, scoring 330 out of 360 marks. The results, announced on Sunday, saw 56,880 candidates qualify from among 1.79 lakh test-takers, while Arohi Deshpande emerged as the highest-ranked female candidate.

The results of JEE Advanced 2026 have been declared, with Shubham Kumar from the IIT Delhi zone securing All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the Common Rank List (CRL). Kumar scored an impressive 330 out of 360 marks, emerging as the highest scorer in one of the country’s toughest entrance examinations.
This year’s examination saw strong participation, with 1,87,389 candidates registering for JEE Advanced 2026. Of these, 1,79,694 candidates appeared for both Paper 1 and Paper 2, which were conducted on May 17, 2026.
A total of 56,880 candidates have qualified for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other participating institutions. Among the successful candidates, 10,107 are women.
The IIT Delhi zone dominated the top ranks this year, producing all three of the highest-ranked candidates.
While Shubham Kumar claimed the top spot with 330 marks, Kabeer Chhillar secured AIR 2 with 329 marks, narrowly missing the top rank by a single mark. Jatin Chahar took AIR 3 with 319 marks.

Among female candidates, Arohi Deshpande of the IIT Delhi zone emerged as the highest-ranked woman in the examination. She secured CRL 77 with a score of 280 out of 360 marks.
Following the declaration of results, qualified candidates have been encouraged to participate in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 counselling and seat allocation process, regardless of their Class 12 marks or percentage. However, final admission and seat confirmation will remain subject to candidates meeting the eligibility criteria and other conditions specified in the JEE Advanced 2026 Information Brochure.
With nearly 57,000 candidates clearing the examination, the focus now shifts to JoSAA counselling, where aspirants will compete for seats across the IIT system and other premier engineering institutions in the country.
