A five-minute wait for naan and roti at a dhaba in allegedly turned into a violent clash, with a man being stabbed and seriously injured, according to the shopkeeper.
Asif, who runs the 'Al Kareem' dhaba in Faridabad's Gaunchi area said some men had come to buy naan and roti. Since there was a crowd at the shop, he asked them to wait for five minutes. He alleged that they became angry, started abusing him and pressured him to provide the rotis immediately.
“One boy came to get roti. I told him to wait for five minutes and that I would give it to him. He said, give us the roti first. He wasn't even paying. Then four or five people gathered and started abusing us. When we objected, they started assaulting us and stabbed my younger brother Mohsin,” Asif said.
Mohsin was seriously injured in the stabbing. He was given initial treatment at Faridabad's Badshah Khan Civil Hospital and referred to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment. However, his family took him to a nearby private hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Asif alleged that two of the attackers, identified as Anwar and Goli, arrived along with five or six others armed with knives and sticks. He alleged that they stabbed Mohsin several times, seriously injuring him. During the assault, Asif's shoulder was dislocated and his nose was fractured.
Another victim associated with the dhaba alleged that the attackers were involved in illegal activities such as gambling and betting in the area and had been involved in similar assaults in the past.
Sanjay Colony police post in-charge Kailash Chand said the dispute at the hotel was over payment for the rotis and that a stabbing took place during the altercation.
He said people from both sides were injured and were undergoing treatment at different private hospitals in Faridabad. He said a complaint had so far been received from the dhaba operator's side, while no complaint had been received from the other side.
Kailash Chand added that appropriate legal action would be taken after receiving a complaint and based on the investigation.
