The four-time NBA champion leaves having guided the Lakers to the 2020 NBA title and cementing his legacy in purple and gold, with the Golden State Warriors emerging as the frontrunners to land the league's all-time leading scorer.
The Lakers in a social media post thanked LeBron for his services, bidding farewell to the NBA legend.
"LeBron James is one of the greatest athletes in history," they said. "We will always be thankful for his eight years with the Lakers – including the title he led us to in 2020 under the toughest imaginable circumstances and the countless records he broke in purple and gold.
